SparkTroops

Our mission

Belonging, on equal footing.

SparkTroops exists so that kids with developmental disabilities feel real social belonging — and to remind all of us that we are more united than different, and that anyone can be friends.

The gap we’re closing

Many kids with developmental disabilities quietly long for the kind of social connection and community that others take for granted. Too often, the help around them arrives as supervision from above — not friendship on equal footing.

We build small, consistent troops where volunteers and Troopers meet as equals: playing, learning, and growing side by side. No hierarchy, no superiority — just a real community where showing up for each other is the whole point. And the next generation grows up knowing that difference is nothing to fear.

What we believe

Consistency

The same troop, the same faces, the same rhythm. Familiarity is what makes everything else possible.

Small sparks

It’s in the small things — showing up, a shared laugh, being known — that we find real joy.

Safety

Background checks, training, and two-adult supervision. Not selling points — the floor beneath everything.

Socialization

Close relationships and one-to-one support, so real friendship between equals has room to grow.

Families too

We never forget the parents. Troops build connections for families as well, so no one is left out.

Everyone belongs in a troop.
